Societe Aircalin, also known as Air Caledonie International, is the airline of New Caledonia and is commonly called Aircalin. The airline provides scheduled services to numerous destinations all around the world. The airlines are based in Nouméa, New Caledonia and the main hub airport for the Aircalin airlines is the La Tontouta International Airport which is located in Noumea.
The Aircalin airline was founded in the year 1983 in the month of September and started operations in the same year in the month of December. Initially it was started in collaboration with Qantas airlines. Later however, it came to be known as le Caledonian Express. The airline is presently owned by the Caisse d'Epargne Group and has a fleet of 4 aircrafts. These are an Airbus A320-232, a De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 300 and two Airbus A330-202.
The international destinations which are connected by Aircalin are Osaka and Tokyo in Japan, Seoul in South Korea, Brisbane, and Cairns, Sydney in Australia and Auckland in New Zealand. Various pacific islands also are connected by Aircalin which include Nadi in Fiji, Papeete in French Polynesia, Noumea in New Caledonia, Vanuatu in Port Vila, Wallis and Futuna, etc. Many services and facilities are available to the travellers like complimentary meals, assistance to elderly passengers, sick people, etc. |
