Croatia Airlines was established on 20 July 1989 as Zagal Zagreb Airlines. It is the national airline and flag carrier of Croatia and is based in Zagreb. The name was later changed to Croatia Airliners after the first democratic elections held in Croatia on July 23, 1990. It operates services to both international and domestic destinations. On November 2004 it joined the Star Alliance as a regional member. In 2007, Croatia Airlines posted a net profit of 25million Croatian Kuna and transported 1,715,027, a maximum in the airline's history.
The main hub of Croatia Airlines is the Zagreb Airport.
