Garuda Indonesian Airlines is the national airlines of Indonesia, based in Jakarta. January 26, 1949 is recognized as this airline’s founding date. It is one of the Premier airlines of Asia and is named after the mythical bird Garuda. It is wholly owned by the Indonesian Government. In 1956, Garuda made its first pilgrim flight to the city of Mecca.
