Iran Air is based in the capital city of Tehran and is the flag carrier airline of the country. The main hub airports of the airline are Imam Khomeini International Airport and the Mehrabad International Airport. Also, the focus cities of the airline are Mashhad International Airport, Isfahan International Airport and the Shiraz International Airport.
Iran Air was founded in founded in the year 1961 by the merger of Iranian Airways and Pars Airways to form a national airline. Both these airlines were pre-existing as private enterprises which used to have passenger scheduled, charter and cargo flights. The present fleet of 67 aircrafts of the airline also includes cargo aircrafts. A total of 55 destinations in 28 countries are connected by the airlines. Iran Air belongs to the Iran National Airlines Corporation as the parent company.
