The Royal Nepal Airlines, which is now mostly known as Nepal Airlines, is the national government-owned flag carrier airline of the country. The airline has its headquarters in the capital city Kathmandu and the main hub airport of the airline is Tribhuvan International Airport. The Pokhara Airport is also the secondary hub for the airline.
The Royal Nepal Airlines were established in the year 1958 under the Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation. The initial aircraft with which the airline was started was a Douglas DC-3. The first destinations of the airline were Simara, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Patna, Calcutta and Delhi. Presently however, around 38 destinations in all are connected by the flights of Royal Nepal Airlines out of which 8 are international. The fleet size of the airlines is 7 aircrafts which include 2 Boeings and 5 DHC-6 Twin Otters. The Boeings are used for international flights.
Two classes of travel are available to the passengers to choose from in Royal Nepal Airlines. These are the economy class and the Shangri-La class which is the business class. The destinations include Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Dubai. In-flight meals and entertainment is also provided. Medical help and general necessities like blankets etc are present.
