Abuja was a planned city which was built in the year 1980s so as to replace the previous capital of Nigeria which was Lagos. It is located in the Federal Capital Territory in Nigeria. A very beautiful city, it is very expensive too. The city was built from scratch and therefore is a completely modernised one and has beautiful architecture, superior roads, and all facilities are of the world-class level. There are three different seasons that occur in the city Federal Capital Territory. The two main seasons are a warm and humid rainy season and the other which is a very surprisingly dry weather. The rainy season occurs from April to October and it is the time when daytime temperatures are 28-30 degree Celsius whereas temperature in the night is around 22-23 degree Celsius. Temperature as high as 40 degree Celsius can be experienced in daytime but surprising at night, the temperature dips to 12 degree Celsius too. In between the two seasons is the Harmattan interlude which brings with it dust haze, intense cold and dryness.

The Independence Day on 1st October is the main day of celebration for the city. Since it is at that time, the country obtained its independence it is celebrated with pomp and show with street parades and performances.
