Taipei is the capital city of Taiwan and is located in the northern part of the island. There are many events and festivals that take place in Taipei. The main is the Founding Day which is on January 1st which marks coming in force of the constitution. Fireworks, parades, lion dances etc are the way to celebrate this occasion. Also important is the onset of the Chinese New Year which is celebrated with great fervour. February sees the Lantern festival take place where children parade at night with decorative lanterns. March 29th is the Youth Day in Taipei and takes place at martyr’s shrine. People visit the tombs of their family members on Tomb Sweeping Day which occurs in May. The Dragon Boat Festival takes place in June and is a great attraction for tourists. Another festival which is the Mid-Autumn Festival also is a great time which marks the end of the harvesting season.

Taipei has a lot on offer to when it comes to entertainment, against the usual thoughts that first time visitors to this place have. The best thing to do is to visit the numerous temples that are present in the city. Each of them is charming in its own sense and also, there are night markets where tourists can get cheap imitations of various brands and designs, etc. You can also join cooking classes while in the city or even walk the neighbourhoods of Wulai and Beitou. Also, exploring the Fulung beach is another pastime for tourists where they can camp as well.
